Car Park
Please can we remind parents of our commitment to the safety of pupils, parent, staff and visitors.
Our school car park can not be accessed between the hours of;
8:25 a.m.- 9:15 a.m.
and 2:45 p.m - 3:30 p.m
The only exception to this is when a parking pass has been issued from the school office. Parking passes are issued on a case by case basis in accordance with out Car Parking Policy.
Parents who have been issued with a pass are not permitted to park in any of the yellow hatched parking bays. These must be kept free for school transport (including taxis) dropping off and collecting our children and also children form Benton Dene Special School.
There is also no guarantee of a space for those with passes. Our school car park is a one way system and the speed limit is 5mph. Parents not adhering to these rules may have their car park passes revoked.
Also please do not walk directly across the car park, it is very busy, and potentially dangerous. Please use the allocated footpaths at all times. Children on scooters or on bikes must be supervised at all times and use the designated and marked cycle lanes.
We would also like to remind you that we have zero tolerance towards negative or aggressive behaviour towards all of our staff, including those on gate duty.
Considerate Parking
There are parking restrictions in place affecting a number of streets around school; parents and carers are not permitted to park vehicles, for any period of time (including short drop off or collection) on;
- Tenbury Crescent
- Clydedale Avenue
- Weardale Avenue
We receive regular complaints about residents' access being blocked; cars being driven over residents’ property and unsafe driving. Despite multiple reminders by e-mail and newsletter, these concerns are still being reported and take significant time and resources for the school to respond to.
We urge all families to park legally and considerately, and to respect our local residents.
Whilst we cannot enforce parking restrictions outside of school grounds residents can report matters to the local authority and/or police.
WOW Living Streets Travel Tracker
We operate a Living Streets WOW Walk to School Travel Tracker scheme where children (and families) are encouraged to walk to school or where a car journey is necessary to 'park and stride', parking far away form school and walking the remaining distance. No only will this minimise pollution and traffic/parking problems in the school vicinity is an opportunity to be physically active.
